Scuba Diving Asia

Scuba diving is a fantastic way to explore nature’s beauty under water. Each day, the options and opportunities increase. Diving coupled with snorkeling, deep sea fishing, surfing and other water sports are a great experience. Where else other than in Asia do you find the variety and diversity like no other place in the world? South and South East Asian nations are blessed with beautiful beaches, dive sites, wrecks and fabulous eco-resorts. Each country has a hoard of dive sites that attracts a lot of people year round. Some of the best sites are in the Andaman Sea, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.

Pattaya in Thailand is about an hour and a half from Bangkok by road. Pattaya is regularly visited by divers for daytrips. The Near Islands is a group of islands just half an hour away from the Pattaya beach. Some of the sites are Koh Krok, Koh Larn, and Koh Sak. The Hardeep Wreck, about 2 hours from Phuket is one of the most famous wreck dive sites in South East Asia. You can also go snorkelling and sea swimming here.

Papua New Guinea is bordered by the Coral, Bismarck, and Solomon Seas. It has a coastline of over 17,000 km. Loloata is as resort island a few minutes from the airport in Port Moresby. It is surrounded by reefs and corals and you’ll find divers as well as marine biologists and researchers here.

The volume of coral reef in the Indonesian archipelago is a great deal more than the Great Barrier Reef of Australia but not as diverse. All the islands are enclosed by coral seas, World War wreck sites, trenches, under water volcanoes etc. Sumbawa Island lies between the islands of Lombok and Komodo. The peninsulas of Sangeang, Moyo, and Satonda abound in fishes an coral groups.

To the south of Komodo Island is the Sumba Island. There are many dive sites and also ocean dive sites of Marlin Rock and Magic Mountain. Karimunjawa is a little archipelago in the Java Sea with about 25 islands. About five of these islands are inhabited and the other islands are sanctuaries and wildlife protection zones.
