Spanish settlers arrived in the Cebu Islands in the 16th century. The Philippines’ second largest airport is located on Mactan Island. There are over 160 islands and atolls. Trekking tours are organized to Mt. Canlaon on the Negros Island. The Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort on the Sumilon Island is encompassed by crystal waters. It is the first protected area in the country for marine life.
